2nd Annual Puttin’ On A Wish,Lake Norman 2009
Lake Norman (July 31, 2009) – Last year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and Western North Carolina had the honor of working with Joy Schou of Ft. Myers, FL and Kenny Dean of Stanley, NC during the first Puttin’ On A Wish event to benefit the Foundation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children who have life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This well known charity was established in 1980 and since then has been able to grant the wish of more than 178,000 children worldwide. To read more about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, you can visit their website at www.wish.org.
Last September, during the day, wish families were invited to Lake Norman Midtown Sundries. They had the opportunity to attend a carnival and enjoy rides on the high-speed powerboats that were participating in the Lake Norman Poker Run that weekend. Approximately 80 people came out for the event, and everyone had a great time! That night Schou and Dean organized a live auction full of great prizes that drew in the support of Poker Run attendees and patrons of Midtown Sundries. The auction raised $13,336.51 and helped the Central and Western North Carolina chapter grant the wishes of at least two of the children they serve.
The Second Annual Puttin’ On A Wish will once again be at Midtown Sundries on July 31st. This year the Platinum Powerboat Club, The Club with a Heart, is sponsoring the event. The club will have a fun day for wish families and are hoping to have even more attendees. There will also be a live auction that night that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation for club members and restaurant guests.
